The 50 Shades Darker trailer is here and there’s a lot going on

It’s back.

The first full-length trailer for 50 Shades Darker, the second instalment in the record-breaking, inadvertently hilarious and frequently questionable 50 Shades movie trilogy, dropped on Tuesday.

Whether you care about this news rests heavily on whether you bought into E. L. James’s “erotica” phenomenon in the first place. Those who did, however, will know that there were long doubts about whether the second movie would ever get made. Jamie Dornan was rumoured to be unhappy with the critical panning received by 50 Shades of Grey, director Sam Taylor-Johnson quit the franchise in March 2015, and then there were the allegations of a lack of chemistry between Dornan and Dakota Johnson.

But if you’re still looking forward to 50 Shades Darker, here’s what’s on offer: offer: masquerade balls. Holidays on yachts (obvs). Stalkers. LOVE RIVALS. Jamie Dornan doing pull-ups with no top on. And the words: “Slip into something a shade darker.”

Oof. Do we have to?

Fifty Shades Darker is set for release on Valentine's Day 2017. The third film in the series, Fifty Shades Freed, is scheduled for release in February 2018.

Brace yourselves…
