9 body positivity advocates you need to be following on Instagram

Body-shaming has become all too common in recent years, not helped by a near-constant striving for perfection on social media.

But there’s a movement afoot: body-positivity advocates are coming together, and wonderful things are happening.

As part of this year’s Stylist Live, Instagram star Megan Jayne Crabbe (aka Body Posi Panda), who coined the hashtag #DontHateTheShake, will be sharing her message of self-love and discussing how she battled anorexia during a panel discussion on Saturday 11 November.

Sitting along beside her will be Harnaam Kaur. As a long-term sufferer of polycystic ovary syndrome, Kaur has embraced her facial hair by dubbing herself the Bearded Dame.

The discussion will be chaired by comedian Sofie Hagen, Made of Human podcast host and winner of 2015’s Best Newcomer award at the Edinburgh Fringe.

With recent studies showing that when women have a negative or poor body image, they also tend to take part in riskier behaviours, including substance abuse, there’s never been a more vitally important time to appreciate women who don’t conform to restrictive societal expectations.

With that in mind, we’ve rounded up our most inspirational body positivity advocates in one place – all of whom are teaching us how to love ourselves as we are.

Stylist Live brings everything you love about Stylist magazine to life across three days of experts, interviews, comedy, food, beauty and fashion exclusives. 10-12 November, Olympia London. Find out more at live.stylist.co.uk
