As filming kicks-off in London, see new pics of Bridget Jones' Baby on set

We've been spoiled with exciting Bridget Jones news of late.

First-off, we learned that Grey's Anatomy's McDreamy, Patrick Dempsey, will be appearing in the third installment of the franchise, Bridget Jones' Baby. Then, we discovered that Bridget (Renee Zellweger) has welcomed-in the 21st Century, swapping the trusty pages of her beloved diary for an iPad. Well, at least that will make it more difficult for any potential suitors to stumble upon her scathing personal reviews of them.

Today the first pictures of filming for the new movie, taking place in Borough Market, have been released, giving us a sneak-peek into what we might expect from the film.

Renee Zellweger keeps warms in between scenes

Images show Bridget dressed-up and looking chic in a navy lace dress - a far cry from the Bridget of yore, who previously arrived at smart events wearing obscene amounts of blusher, or left the house only to be soaked by a passing lorry. It looks like Bridget might just have it together in this film, although, we hope not completely.

In between scenes, Renee Zellweger can be seen wrapped in a bathrobe and clutching a hot water bottle.

Though not much has been revealed about the storyline, it has been confirmed that the film will begin after Bridget's 40th birthday, and that our much-loved protagonist is keen to start a family with her beau, Mark Darcy.

However, we suspect that Patrick Dempsey might be on set to throw a spanner into the works of their wedded bliss, with rumours of baby daddy confusion.

Creator, Helen Fielding's, third Bridget Jones book, Mad About the Boy, saw Mark Darcy die-off, leaving Bridget a widowed mother of two, but fans of the books and films will be pleased to know that Bridget Jones' Baby will not be following this dramatic series of events, and instead take a different approach.

Along with co-scriptwriter, One Day author, David Nicholls, Fielding has based the third film's storyline on her Bridget Jones newspaper columns.

Other images show Bridget having drinks with her trusty gang of pals, loud-mouthed journalist, Shazza (Sally Phillips), and one-hit-wonder eighties pop star, Tom (James Callis).

The pictures also show Bridget's mum, Pamela (Gemma Jones) dressed in Thatcherite garb with a rosette, saying 'Vote for Pamela Jones.'

We cannot confirm what position Pamela will be standing for, but we can only assume that her party conference will be catered-for with Turkey Curry Dinners.

Sadly, the third Bridget Jones installment will not include Lothario, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), after the star decided he did not want to continue involvement in the films.

Still, it looks as though there will be a lot to look forward to. If only we didn't have to wait until next year...
