Bride wears 3km wedding veil

Between Big Fat Gypsy Weddings' hip-bruising dresses and Kate and Wills' lavish nuptials, you'd be forgiven for thinking that wedding days couldn't get any more excessive.

But Italian newlywed Elena De Angelis redefined overdressing and broke a world record when she donned a 3km bridal veil on her big day.

Dozens of seamstresses took months to create the headgear, which is 33 times longer than Westminster Abbey - where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wed in April.

She married in a vintage open- top car and had a fair few helpers to stop the veil from trailing on the ground.
