Cannes: iconic artworks

Beautiful vintage posters

Art at Cannes isn't confined to the big screen and leading artistes - since the film festival began in 1946, its posters have provided a veritable treasure trove of aesthetic pleasure.

From original illustrations and muses to film set adaptations and conceptions by leading design agencies, each poster represents the cutting edge of art of its time. The ever-present Cannes motif of glamour merged with film is also evident within each of the images. With Cannes 2013 kicking off in style this week, we've pulled together the very best posters from the festival's 57 year history.
