Cold Feet fans, watch this sneak peek of the new series

Cold Feet, which first hit the small screen in 1997, is about to return after a hiatus of 13 years.

Now, after weeks of anticipation, the creators of the special eight-part reunion series have released a sneak peek at what’s to come.

In it, we watch as Adam (James Nesbitt) returns from working abroad – and immediately teams up with his old friends.

Although, judging by the end of the clip, we have a feeling that the gang won’t be together for long…

Watch the extended Cold Feet trailer below:

As you can see from the footage, Robert Bathurst, Hermione Norris, John Thomson, and Fay Ripley will all be reprising their roles as Pete, Jenny, Karen and David.

And it seems as if they are set to wave Adam back off to the States again, as the clip begins and ends at an airport.

Speaking in an interview with the Radio Times, Nesbitt revealed that he hopes the new reunion series will be well-received by critics.

“I do care what the critics say because Cold Feet means a lot to me,” he said.

“We’re all very hopeful that people are kind and will enjoy and embrace it. There will be critics out there who cannot wait to hammer it.”

Nesbitt added that, while long-time fans of the show may remember it as being a little more emotionally raw than most sitcoms, the new Cold Feet episodes are far more positive.

“This is the happiest Cold Feet has ever been – although to be fair there are two series I can’t remember,” he said.

The new series can’t be any sadder than the final few episodes of the original show.

Fans everywhere were devastated when, in March 2003, they watched as Adam’s beloved wife, Rachel (Helen Baxdale) was unexpectedly killed in a car crash.

While Baxdale obviously can’t reprise her role, the show’s producer has confirmed that a special tribute episode has been planned for Rachel.

So what else does the show have in store for us?

Creator Mike Bullen told What’s On TV: “This feels like the right time to revisit these characters, as they tip-toe through the minefield of middle age!

“They’re 50, but still feel 30, apart from on the morning after the night before, when they really feel their age.”

He added: “They’ve still got lots of life to look forward to, though they’re not necessarily the years one looks forward to!”

Cold Feet returns to ITV at 9pm on Monday 5 September 2017.
