Must-see: watch the nostalgic new Cold Feet reunion trailer

Cold Feet fans, rejoice – it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for…

The hit sitcom, which began way back in 1997, is set to return after 13 years with a special eight-part reunion series of the show.

Earlier this week, ITV released their first photograph of the Cold Feet gang back together.

And now, at last, they have released the first teaser trailer, too.

In it, we watch as Adam (James Nesbitt) is joined by his old friends on an airplane… but not everything is as it seems.

Check it out:

It’s a bittersweet symphony, this Cold Feet trailer; are you feeling those pangs of nostalgia yet?

While the mid-flight reunion turns out to be nothing more than a dream, it’s safe to say that Adam will find his way back to the gang in Manchester after he returns from working abroad.

That’s right; Robert Bathurst, Hermione Norris, John Thomson, and Fay Ripley will all be reprising their roles as Pete, Jenny, Karen and David.

Sadly, due to the fact that she was dramatically killed off in the original show, Helen Baxdale (yes, Emily from Friends) will not be joining them.

However she will be there in spirit, as the show’s producer has confirmed that a special tribute episode has been planned for Adam’s beloved late wife, Rachel.

So what else does the show have in store for us?

Creator Mike Bullen told What’s On TV: “This feels like the right time to revisit these characters, as they tip-toe through the minefield of middle age!

“They’re 50, but still feel 30, apart from on the morning after the night before, when they really feel their age.”

He added: “They’ve still got lots of life to look forward to, though they’re not necessarily the years one looks forward to!”

It has been confirmed that Guy Garvey, aka the frontman from Elbow, has written and performed an original song with I Am Kloot's Peter Jobson that will serve as the new Cold Feet theme.

The song, titled The Rover Returns, was penned after James Nesbitt personally went on Radio 2’s The Chris Evans Show and asked them to write track for the reunion series.

Executive producer Kenton Allen said: "We’re thrilled and flattered that these two iconic sons of Manchester wanted to write and perform an original song to mark the return of Cold Feet.

“Amazing music has always been part the show’s DNA and it’s great to give a nod to the rich musical heritage of Manchester with Guy and Pete’s beautiful new composition."

Roll on autumn 2016 already.
