Cosy Homes...Made From Skips

Some artists can see the beauty in everything - even rubbish skips.

Dutch designers Rikkert Paauw and Jet van Zwieten have transformed ordinary skips - and their contents - into small houses, coffee shops, and bars.

The sleek construct above, recently built in Utrecht, could easily sit alongside a hot tub in a landscaped garden

The duo transport empty skips to urban areas and fill them with rubbish from the surrounding streets and trash given to them by locals.

Some of the made-over skips even feature intricate wall art and mood lighting

Once they have collected all the rubbish they need, they get to work turning the waste into homely constructs where residents can meet and see how their unwanted goods were used in the project, which the pair call "Foundation".

One ambitious work in progress, above, is nicknamed the "Small Skyscraper"

Part beach hut, part garden shed, it's hard to believe the intimate red and green shelter above was once a dirty skip.

We love the angled door on the mini cafe they created in Vienna, above.

A waste of time, or recycling at its best? Let us know your thoughts on Twitter or in the comments section below.
