Meerkats get spring fever

Daffodils drive adorable critters wild

It felt like spring had really arrived yesterday as we saw office workers tentatively sitting on slightly damp grass to eat their lunch in the sunshine. The meerkats at Exmoor Zoo clearly had spring fever too - they got extremely excited by the first daffodils of the season, examining them, smelling them and even attempting to eat them.

Alexandra the meerkat contemplates a daffodil at Exmoor Zoo where she is currently being hand-reared by staff after being rejected by her family.

Alexandra seems hypnotised by the host of golden daffodils.

The pensive meerkat takes a moment to contemplate the eternal passage of the seasons.

Alexandra's meerkcat chums decided to take a bite out of the bright yellow flower...

And decide that they don't taste that nice after all...
