Disney's Emma Watson doll is cracking people up

Disney has released a doll version of Beauty and the Beast’s Belle that looks like just about everyone apart from Emma Watson.

Fans have been posting bemused and horrified reactions to the new doll on Twitter, claiming that its disproportionately large head and slightly masculine features do a disservice to 26-year-old Watson.

The overwhelming consensus is that the figurine looks more like Justin Bieber in a wig. Others have suggested it would be more convincing as a hybrid of Watson and high-profile men including Barack Obama, Nicholas Cage, Shrek’s Lord Farquaad and even James Franco.

Here’s a reminder of what Emma Watson actually looks like...

Yes, there is definitely a problem here.

Teacher William Herrington, from Colorado, snapped pictures of the doll in US chain store JC Penny and shared them on Flickr to stun, delight and astound us.

"Most of the Film Collection dolls don't look 100% like the actors they are portraying, but they usually do have defining features," Herrington told Mashable. "I don't know what happened with this doll, but any resemblance to Emma just went out the window. She looks almost nothing like the talented, beautiful woman she's supposed to portray."

The doll is not currently available to view on the budget home retail store’s website.

Meanwhile, in a much smarter move, Disney has dropped its second teaser of Watson’s singing chops in the classic fairytale. The trailer sees Watson standing on a sunny hillside in a scene uncannily similar to The Sound of Music, albeit with a slightly more serious tone, belting out Belle (Reprise):

This follows last week’s vocal-only snippet of the Harry Potter star singing Something There:
