Fancy your own floating island?

Inflatable home comes with palm trees & aquarium

It's easy to get carried away when you're buying your own home, as any fan of Location, Location, Location will know.

But even the wildest expectations are unlikely to match this latest eco-luxury offering from Austrian-based company Orsos Islands.

They've dreamt up a prototype for a 1000 m² floating retreat, complete with palm trees, a Jacuzzi, an aquarium and its own staff quarters.

There's a sun deck area with loungers, a BBQ area and a bar for 15 people and six state bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.

The island even boasts its own "autonomous power supply" with solar panels and a wind and water heat energy system to generate electricity.

Needless to say, all this luxury comes at a price - a cool £3million, to be precise. But even this is cheap, insists the island's creator Gábor Orsós.

With previous floating island designs coming in around the US$100 million mark, he feels his prototype will reach "a much broader audience."

"In the beginning, my goal was to create an exclusive, high-quality hotel chain based on floating platforms," Orsós said.

"With the progress of the project it became clear that the attractive and unusual concept of ORSOS Islands should not be limited to only a selected group of people.

"Orsos Islands should reach ... people with an awareness of modern life and a feeling of responsibility towards the environment."

Work has begun on the first model of the Orsos Island, with a release date set for 2013.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the plans? Or is super-yachting just not your style? Let us know on Twitter or the comments section below.
