A man who was caught up in Saturday night’s terror attack in London has gone viral with his strong-willed response to the atrocity, telling an interviewer, “If me having a gin and tonic with my friends, flirting with handsome men and hanging out with brilliant women is what offends these people so much, I'm going to do it more, not less”.

Richard Angell was enjoying a night out at Arabica Bar and Kitchen, in the heart of renowned food and drink destination Borough Market, when three men charged at passers-by in random van and knife attacks.

Seven people were killed and 48 injured when the attackers drove their van onto the pavement at London Bridge before stabbing people in Borough Market. The suspects were shot dead by armed police within eight minutes of the horrific scenes unfolding.

The next day, the think tank director spoke live to BBC News and insisted he would not let the “cowards” deter him from enjoying his life as he sees fit.

He recounted to The Mirror how brave staff at the restaurant took astonishing steps to help keep diners safe by facing down the men.

“The waiter jammed his foot in the door to make sure it stayed closed, people were turning over tables and chairs to take cover,” he said.

“I looked up and there was this guy throwing an entire table at somebody. This heroic guy who saw what was happening and started bombarding these cowardly people with anything he could get his hands on”.

Arabica, like all local businesses went into lockdown before being evacuated and the 33-year-old vowed to Buzzfeed that he will return to pay his bill and leave staff a hefty tip when the area reopens.

“I've got to pay my bill. Also, we haven't given the staff a tip and they looked out for us when they should have been helping themselves. It was lovely food and I want the rest of my main course.”
