Praise be! The men’s version of The Handmaid’s Tale is the meninist dream we all need

We bang the feminist drum over here at Stylist, hoping that sometime in the future, maybe even in our lifetimes, women will achieve equality the world over.

But we’re willing to concede that there’s one aspect of this dream we have selfishly not given due consideration, and that’s how horrendous such a world would be for that much-maligned, consistently overlooked, complete underdog category of society: the straight, white male.

We’ve looked away from the dark side of feminism for too long. Fortunately, funnyordie.com is here to imagine such a world for us in a new video, The Handman’s Tale.

As fans will know, the TV adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s novel – telling the tale of a dystopian near-future in which women have been completely stripped of their rights, their status in society based on their ability to reproduce – has been ridiculously successful, striking a chord in a political climate seeing the likes of Donald Trump in power.

Flipping The Handmaid’s Tale on its head, the clip tells the story of Manfred – a man just trying to survive in a world under the harsh rule of the feminazi.

The comedy website doesn’t shy away from the brutal truths our single-minded mission could result in, such as a former vice president of a company still being a vice president, but having to have “some” female colleagues. Or having to praise films with excellent women leads. Or being unable to say someone looked like they could “take a dick” and not have it accepted as the compliment it surely is.

As one brave man says: “Men used to be respected. I mean, we can still get wasted and eat tacos, but call feminism an ugly girl thing and it’s jail for you.”

Retreating to their safe online havens to form the resistance, this world has an underbelly we’ve refused to acknowledge, as one exchange illustrates all too painfully. A woman bossily demands: “We just want you to see women as people!” Undaunted, her Handman shoots back bravely: “I just want to be allowed to say whatever I want about women’s tits!”

Meninists everywhere, rejoice: your story will finally be told

So heed this warning, men – change could be upon you before you know it.

“When they didn’t date us because of feminism, we didn’t wake up. They ruined Ghostbusters, and we didn’t wake up then either. And when they were being shrill bitches 24/7, we didn’t wake up. And now, we are Handmen.”
