Hearse heist

A West Virginia woman has been arrested for stealing a hearse from a funeral home and making off with the dead body inside.

Opportunist Angela J Dehart spotted the 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood, with its engine running, outside the Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Home in Beckley. She sped off with an 85-year-old woman’s corpse while driver Kenneth Bly ran after the vehicle shouting. It was reported Dehart, 23, found herself stranded outside the funeral home following a spat with her girlfriend, who had driven off without her. Dehart’s neighbours later spotted her with the hearse and reported it to the local police. Dehart confessed to the theft and is being held in jail on $25,000 (£16,169) bail.
