It’s the most wonderful time of the year, when advertisers stop trying to peddle their wares and, instead, spread messages of hope, love, and good cheer throughout the land. Or something to that effect, anyway.
Now, in a strange turn of events, none other than Heathrow Airport have dropped their first ever Christmas advert – and it’s an absolute humdinger.
During the short film, we follow two teddy bears – all dressed up in their winter finery – as they fly home for Christmas.
Their struggle at the airport is all too real; their suitcases are difficult to snaffle off the conveyor belt, the duty-free gifts are all too enticing, and the hustle and bustle of it all is a little too much for them to bear (sorry, not sorry).
When they reach the arrivals lounge, they glance around nervously at all the people gathered their waiting to greet their loved ones – and, as two overjoyed children pelt their way towards them, that’s when something magical happens…
Watch it for yourself below:
That’s right, they were humans all along!
Speaking to The Drum about the advert, Heathrow’s commercial director Jonathan Coen, said: “Christmas is my favourite time of year at Heathrow – the airport is abuzz with families and friends reuniting for this special time of year.
“We love the film and hope the bears’ journey through the airport captures that excitement you feel when walking through Heathrow arrivals into the arms of your loved ones at Christmas.”
Excuse us a moment, we just have a little something in our eye…
