The long-awaited fourth instalment to the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World, smashed box office records this summer.
The film pulled-in $204.6 million in its first weekend, and became the biggest film debut in history and is the third highest grossing film, below Avatar and Titanic.
But as enjoyable as the film was, many viewers felt that there was one major let-down – the clichéd female roles.
One of the key problems with the film was the wardrobe of the female protagonist, Claire Dearing, played by Bryce Dallas Howard. Claire spends the entire film escaping dinosaurs by running through the rainforest, muddy swamps and other trecharous terrains in a pair of beige stilettos. Strangely enough, the filmmakers thought that stilettos were appropriate attire for someone to run for their life in. The move was so considered and so determined, that Howard even had to train for the role, practicising running and stunts in heels. What can we say, you can take the girl out of the heels...what are we LIKE!
In light of the hilarity of the film’s costume design, Chicago comedy group, XVP Comedy, have released a parody promo for the Jurassic Park Box Set: High Heels Addition.
They have remastered footage from the 1993 Jurassic Park film, so that every character is wearing high heels, ensuring they look glam whilst they escape turmoil. Now that’s equality.
Scenes show Richard Attenborough, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum (in a particularly fetching knee-high scarlet pair) wearing a range of high heels. Even the Tyrannosaurus Rex is seen sporting the feminine footwear. The sound has also been remastered in hi-def, so that we can hear the click of the heels as the characters flee from pre-historic monsters.
Our personal favourite is a mosquito in amber, wearing a set of pink micro heels. Très chic.
The video has proven such a hit that it’s gone viral and we highly recommend you watch it (below)
