Kate and Wills celebrate Mother's Day with the royal family

The Queen's taking a selfie and William's lying crashed out on the sofa as Kate plays with baby George...

It could only be the work of spoof artist Alison Jackson, who was commissioned by gift website Notonthehighstreet.com to create a special Mother's Day shoot, featuring the Queen, Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Kate's mother Carole and of course, Prince George as star of the show.

The fly-on-the-wall style snaps show Wills rustling up a fried egg or two as six-month-old George plays with his (lurid, purple) crown and the Queen, Camilla and Carole gathering round to dote on the royal youngster.

The get-together envisaged by Jackson is a rather more easygoing affair than we're used to from the royals, with guests taking selfies, knocking back bubbly and exchanging gifts.

"We've all at some point imagined the day to day life of the Royals and pictured the most famous family in the world doing normal things to mark occasions like birthdays and Christmas," says notonthehighstreet.com spokesman Andy Botha.

"Kate's first Mother's Day will clearly be a big event for the new family and with tongue firmly in cheek, we're imagining this less than ordinary couple celebrating the day just as the rest of us would. After all every Mum wants to be treated like a Duchess on Mother's Day," he added.

Photographer Jackson is famed for her comic, satirical takes on the royal family behind the scenes. One of her more recent shoots featured Wills wearing a strap-on breastfeeding device in an intimate royal "baby shoot."

The artist likes to play with the concept of the royals as "a guarded, censored brand" and her work has been displayed across the UK in venues such as London's Hayward gallery.

One of her biggest issues is finding realistic lookalikes for her work. "Kate [Middleton] has about three versions – hair and body, face and the soundalike," she said in an interview with the Guardian in 2011.
