Kristen Davis finally speaks about SATC3 - and it’s emotional

The rumour mill has been in overdrive for years as to whether or not we’d see the characters of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte grace the big screen for one last time in Sex and the City 3.

However, Sarah Jessica Parker recently dashed all of our hopes when she confirmed that – despite the fact a script has been penned – the movie is definitely not happening. And now Kristin Davis – who played Charlotte York in the hit HBO show – has weighed in on the news, too.

Taking to Instagram on Friday 29 September, the actor penned an emotional post, along with two photos side-by-side of Charlotte in episode 12 of season six.

“I love to look back at the pics from our LONG history of Sex and the City,” wrote Davis.

“I am incredibly lucky to have gotten to play Charlotte through all of her ups and downs (epitomised in one of my favourite episodes here).

“It is true that we are not going to be able to make a third film. I wish that we could have made the final chapter, on our own terms, to complete the stories of our characters. It is deeply frustrating not to be able to share that chapter (beautifully written by MPK) with all of you.

“So we will just have our memories, but please know that all of the love and support for us through the years is felt by us and we are so grateful for all of you! SATC forever in our hearts.”

Fans were quick to share their feelings too, by leaving comments on the post:

“Absolutely gutted,” one social media user posted.

“I’m truly heartbroken,” another commented.

Fans of the hit TV show really want to see the four friends back on the big screen.

Kim Cattrall, meanwhile, has angrily rebutted claims that plans for SATC3 were shelved as a result of the actors’ “outrageous demands”.

“Woke to a @MailOnline s**tstorm,” tweeted the Samantha Jones actor.

“The only ‘DEMAND’ I ever made was that I didn’t want to do a 3rd film....& that was back in 2016.”

Cattrall’s denial followed SJP’s confirmation of the film’s cancellation.

“We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story,” she told Extra.

“It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for the audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”

We guess we’ll just have to stick to watching re-runs for the foreseeable future.
