Love Actually is getting a musical makeover for Christmas

love actually live tour uk tickets.jpg

You probably fall into one of two camps when it comes to mentioning Christmas this far ahead of the festive season. Either you’re absolutely disgusted and want to banish all talk of it until December, or you ditched your summer wardrobe weeks ago and have already put your order in for gin baubles.

Either way, if you’re a fan of Love Actually, this is news you’ll want to get in on early doors: the Richard Curtis ensemble romcom is going on a UK tour this December, and screenings will be accompanied by a live orchestra.

To reiterate, that’s a chance to see the 2003 film on the big screen again, complete with score played by real-life musicians.

The Love Actually live tour will hit UK concert halls and theatres across England and Scotland on six dates (the London screening will have both matinee and evening performances).

1 December – Manchester Bridgewater Hall

2 December – Bristol Colston Hall

3 December – Glasgow Royal Concert Hall

4 December – Birmingham Symphony Hall

5 December – Edinburgh Usher Hall

10 December – London Theatre Royal Drury Lane (matinee and evening)

As nme.com reports, tickets range from £35 to £70, and go on general sale 21 September here, though Ticketmaster is offering first dibs to customers on 20 September.

The score, by composer Craig Armstrong, will be played by a live orchestra, though there’s no word on whether the other famed songs from the film – such as Christmas Is All Around, All You Need Is Love, Jump (For My Love) and Too Lost in You – will have vocalists.

So perhaps it’s time to embrace winter with boozy hot chocolate, massive scarves and Christmassy screenings of your favourite, slightly stalker-ish romcom.

Octopus fancy dress optional (don’t quote us on that).
