Love Island may end tonight, but every single islander will be returning

Love Island has well and truly taken over our TV schedules (and the internet) over the last few weeks and, with the finale finally upon us, we really thought that our nightly hangouts with Muggy Mike, Montana and the rest of the contestants had finally come to an end.

How wrong we were. Because, as it turns out, there’s at least one confirmed reunion show in the works – and an increasingly likely autumnal spin-off series, too.

Speaking at the end of last night’s Love Island: Aftersun, presenter Caroline Flack revealed that every single islander – from Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt, to Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood  – will definitely meet up to celebrate.

“It’s been one hell of a summer,” she said. “But, before you start suffering withdrawal symptoms fear not… next week we’ll be reuniting every single islander from this year for a spectacular Love Island reunion show.”

The show is set to air Sunday 30 July – but, while that’s sure to pique the interest of the show’s mega fans, it’s nowhere near as exciting as the rumoured spin-off show.

Producers are reportedly in talks for an autumnal spin-off series, which will explore whether the show’s couples have continued their relationships back at home in the UK.

The Sun reports that a show insider explained: “Some relationships will be nothing more than a summer holiday romance but there’s some that are going to last a lot longer.

“Each of the couples have already been pushed to the limits in a very false environment and once they’re back home, they will have more time to themselves away from the camera.”

The insider added: “There are already discussions behind the scenes as to doing a follow-up series later this year where viewers can see if islanders have stayed together at home – and whether they’re following in the footsteps of last year’s couples like Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen.

“It’s a no brainer for Love Island bosses to do a follow-up as the show has been a runaway success and everyone’s desperate to see more of their favourite couples.”

That might help to ease the withdrawal pangs after the final episode airs tonight (24 July).
