Man reunited with woman he fell for on flight after launching twitter campaign to find her

It could easily be the plot of a new Hollywood rom-com.

A 24-year-old Irishman named Jamie Kelly met 27-year-old Canadian Katie Moreau on a Ryanair flight from Dublin to Barcelona. The pair hit it off, talking for the entire flight, but they were separated once they left the plane before they could exchange contact details. Kelly looked for Moreau after he passed through customs but had no luck in finding her.

The memorable encounter then turned into an international campaign as Kelly tried to hunt down the mystery woman.

"I originally looked for her Facebook and couldn't find her," Kelly recalled to the Canadian news channel CBC last week.

With no last name or phone number, Kelly's friends took to Twitter using the hashtags #FindKatie and #LoveatFirstFlight.

Kelly then went on mid-morning radio show The Ray D'Arcy Show in hope of finding her. The story soon went viral and when it travelled to Canadian shores, Moreau's sister connected the dots and replied to one of Kelly's friend's tweets, writing "You're looking for my sister???"

When Moreau was eventually contacted, she was "very surprised and flattered".

In an email to CBC News, the Canadian wrote: "When I was on the plane I talked to him incessantly because I had just been travelling for two months in Italy and Spain and it was just so nice to be around English speaking people, plus I'm a talker. We had lots in common plus he was very easy on the eyes."

Katie said searched for the "handsome Irishman" after she'd cleared customs but was afraid of looking desperate. "I thought I might have scared him off actually from all the talking," she told Ireland's Today FM. "I suppose, in hindsight, looking a bit longer wouldn't seem as desperate in comparison."

"I never thought I would ever see him again so what a surprise after a couple of pints to log onto Facebook to all these messages.

"I find it very humorous because all my friends back home are losing their heads over it," added Moreau.

Since the media blitz the pair have been talking online and met this week in Waterford, Ireland, where they went surfing followed by drinks and dinner.
