Rok Shoreditch

Rok

26 Curtain Rd London EC2A 3NY
Opening date:
10 August (3–8 August, evenings only, diners will receive a 50% discount)
What's the story? Sure London’s done smokehouses - but this is the city’s first Nordic smokehouse. Rok lands in Shoreditch bringing together British ingredients with Nordic treatments - think brining and pickling - before adding the magic ingredient, smoke. Best of all, it has a late licence with a special bar snacks menu post 10pm - useful for when the tubes go all night.

Senor Buddha Brighton

Señor Buddha

9 Preston Road, Brighton BN1
Opening date: 7 August
What's the story? The more eclectic a fusion restaurant, the more we enjoy it (right?) Señor Buddha, in Brighton's Preston Circus, combines Spanish and East Asian food. It's a mix that might follow on from the more ‘traditional’ Latin American and Japanese combinations often born of Peru's Japanese expat community, but is in fact its head chef's two favourite cuisines, mixed. Expect tapas sized plates of Asian-inspired rich dishes, and a superb wine list.

Wahleeah

Wahleeah

18 Farm Lane, Fulham Broadway, SW6
Opening date: 27 August
What's the story? Followers of popular pop-up Burger Breakout will be first in line to try chef Dave Ahern’s first permanent place in Fulham. The menu would be insanely ambitious for a central London spot and is particularly so for a neighbourhood joint. Everything is being made in-house, even the flour for the bread. We’re dying to try the ricotta dumplings with rainbow chard and beer butter.

7 Greek Street Leeds

7 Greek Street, Leeds, LS1
Opening date: Soft launch lasts until 7 August
What's the story? Leeds' Greek Street is a foodie hub and this new underground bar is right up its, ahem, street. With a killer cocktail list created by a team of expert mixologists and a cool underground vibe opening late at weekends only, it will slot right in amongst the restaurants and bars that already adorn the street.

Boneyard Shoreditch

Boneyard

168 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6HU
Opening date: 1 August
What's the story? We've had restaurants based in everything from a shipping container to rooftops, but here's one based in an old petrol station. You enter through a porthole window to find an industrial interior, apparently to remind you of roadtrips past. For those not lucky enough to have tripped down Route 66, there are plenty of fried foods to satisfy your curiosity.

Nosh + Quaff Birmingham

Nosh + Quaff

130 Colmore Row, Victoria Square, Birmingham B3 3AP
Opening date: 1 August
What's the story? Has Birmingham been crying out for a Burger and Lobster-esque restaurant? Well now it's got one. Nosh + Quaff's tagline is ‘let's get messy’ and encourage eating their premium dish, lobster, with your hands. Its combination of smart grill foods and a laid-back atmosphere has been a winner up and down the country, so we find it hard to see how it could lose.

Vico

Vico

One Cambridge Circus, London WC2H 8PA
Opening date:
Soft launch begins 28 August (50% off food for the 28th and 29th)
What's the story? Imagine the bustle and tantalising smells of an Italian piazza or street market transferred to the centre of London. That’s what the chaps behind Bocca di Lupo have planned for this massive restaurant on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Charing Cross Road. Cutlery is optional, but the food will definitely be delicious.

Estatorios Milos

Estiatorio Milos

1 Regent Street St James's, London SW1Y 4NR
Opening date:
 1 August
What's the story? If eminent restaurant critic Fay Maschler bills this as one of her most anticipated restaurants of 2015, then you know this will be worth having an opinion on. Owner Costas Spiliadis started out in Montreal and his empire now spans from Miami to New York. Expect sparklingly fresh seafood and a lot of Greek chic in this beautiful Grade II listed building on Regent Street.

Zetter Townhouse Marylebone

Zetter Townhouse

28-30 Seymour Street, London W1H 7JB
Opening date: 14 August
What's the story? The original Zetter Townhouse is one of those London bars that just gets better with age, but is always difficult to get a table at, so the prospect of a second one across town can only be a good thing. This new bar will feature drinks by the super talented Tony Conigliaro, but the reason you’ll keep coming back here are the bar snacks by Bruno Loubet.

Turtle Bay

Turtle Bay

1-5 The Wardrick, Derby, DE1
Opening date: 1 August
What's the story? Mini-chain Turtle Bay has been creeping up around the UK, making a name for itself while we weren't looking, and its new Derby opening shows a commitment to local areas as well as the main city hubs. Its spicy Caribbean food offers a wonderful alternative to the ubiquitous Italians everywhere - not that there's anything wrong with that, but those who like it hot will certainly be cheered.
