“Stop asking me when I'm going to start a family, it's none of your business” woman's heartfelt plea goes viral

It's a question many of us have been asked at some point in our lives, “So... When are you going to have kids?”

Whether you've just walked down the aisle, started a new job or (shock horror) reached your thirties, for some reason, the incredibly intimate fertility issue has somehow become a free-for-all.

You wouldn't ask someone when their next period is, so why is it acceptable to ask when you plan on using your uterus?

That's exactly what Emily Bingham, from Michigan, asked in a Facebook post that has since gone viral.

The 33-year-old freelance writer decided to take action by posting a random ultrasound picture to get everyone's attention.

Alongside it, she wrote this heartfelt message, “This is just a friendly P.S.A. that people's reproductive and procreative plans and decisions are none of your business.

The Facebook post has been shared over 37,000 times

“Before you ask the young married couple that has been together for seemingly forever when they are finally gonna start a family ... before you ask the parents of an only-child toddler when a Little Brother or Little Sister will be in the works ... before you ask a single 30-something if/when s/he plans on having children because, you know, clock's ticking ... just stop.

“You don't know who is struggling with infertility or grieving a miscarriage or dealing with health issues. You don't know who is having relationship problems or is under a lot of stress or the timing just isn't right. You don't know who is on the fence about having kids or having more kids.

“You don't know who has decided it's not for them right now, or not for them ever. You don't know how your seemingly innocent question might cause someone grief, pain, stress or frustration.”

She signed off by urging people to instead “Ask someone what they're excited about right now. Ask them what the best part of their day was.”

Kim Cattrall

Kim Cattrall recently spoke about her offense at being called 'childless'

The brilliant post has since been shared over 37,000 times, with many resonating with the message.

One user commented, “Great timing. This comes up daily for me. Grrrr, stop asking me' while another wrote 'People asking me about my child bearing plans drives me up a tree. Be they my parents or PERFECT STRANGERS, because that happens all too often.”

This comes after actress Kim Cattrall hit out at the offensive term 'childless' which she described as making you feel “like you’re less because you haven’t had a child” and model Chrissy Teigen urged people to stop asking her when she would have a baby.
