If your festive spirit has all but melted as January rears its ugly head, these pictures will add a little winter wonderment to your day.

The most impressive ice sculpture we’ve ever seen was a particularly large vodka luge at a party, so naturally, we were impressed by these photos from the 2013 Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival in China.

Held every year in the country’s north-eastern region, (where cold Siberian winds guarantee freezing cold lows of -30 degrees centigrade in the winter), the city of Harbin is transformed for the whole of January into a kingdom fit for the Snow Queen, and draws thousands of tourists every Christmas (when the ice sculpting starts).

Most of them come to see the Ice and Snow World, which features full size buildings made from blocks of ice from the Songhua River, all lit up at night with LED lights (and the occasional fireworks display). For 2013, the Ice World has a fairytale theme, with huge castles and glowing fairytale characters.

Take a look at some of the impressive pictures from the 2012 Harbin Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival - and let us know what you think of the chilly creations on twitter @StylistMagazine.
