Aldi's wine advent calendar is the only way to countdown Christmas

wine.jpg

There's no time like Christmas for indulging in all things naughty (and nice) – and who better to help us do that than Aldi?

The budget supermarket’s award-winning wines have long been the talk of the town, and, earlier this week, they gifted us with news that they will be launching their biggest bottle of prosecco ever. But when it comes to booze, the store’s generosity seemingly knows no bounds: news has now hit that Aldi will be stocking their stores with an advent calendar choca-block of wine to see us through the festive period, up until 25 December.

Now, wine-filled advent calendars are nothing new. We've been marvelling at them for a good few years, but, while undeniably fabulous, they can also be quite pricey, with some racking up to be well over £100.

Which is why Aldi's new product is such a cause for joy, as it gives those of us with less change to spend on calendars the chance to enjoy a new tipple every day.

The Aldi wine advent calendar in all its glory

For just £49.99, you can get your wine-loving mitts on the above box-shaped advent calendar, which has 24 mini bottles of bubbly and wine hiding behind each tiny door. While it goes without saying that we’re big fans of prosecco (not least of all because of its health benefits), we’re by no means discriminatory and have a lot of love to show for all types of wine.

If you’re the same (and we have a feeling you might be), then you’ll be thrilled to know that this calendar offers you the opportunity to try red, white, rosé and plenty of fizz. Aldi have also decided to team up with a variety of alcohol brands, so you can flex your palette with tasters from JP Chenet to Calvet.

As we mentioned earlier, getting enough plonk for your pounds is always a priority of ours (especially as Christmas is an exceptionally expensive time of year), and according to The Sun the entire calendar equates to six full bottles, and the price break down equals £2 a mini – which we think is pretty good.

Of course social media lovers have been quick to express their glee after hearing that a wine-filled advent can be theirs.

One Twitter user said: “Aldi launching a wine advent calendar?! Amen to that. Great idea!”

While another described the product as a “game changer”, writing: “I'm sorry but Aldi have produced the biggest game changer of 2017 ... a wine advent calendar”.

The wine-laden calendar is set to hit stores on the 1 November, and we have an inkling they’ll sell out fast, so make sure you put that date in your diaries quick-sharp.

We’ll see you at the checkouts.
