The new Baileys flavour you’ll want to drink well beyond Halloween

Fond of Halloween, Thanksgiving, orange members of the squash family and/or booze? Baileys new limited-edition flavour should see you right.

This time of year rolls around and the seasonal food and drink comes out to play. Not only do coffee shops across the land bring out their one-off lattes and jazzed-up cappuccinos, but other classics are getting the autumn-winter treatment, with Colin the Caterpillar donning both a leering Halloween face and a cute Santa hat.

And Baileys, your favourite Christmas liqueur and warmly boozy addition to pretty much any hot drink, has brought out an autumnal banger: Baileys Pumpkin Spice.

Baileys Pumpkin Spice retails for £14.99, but is only around for autumn

The drinks brand revealed the buttery, spicy cousin to its Original Irish Cream last year (it already offers versions in chocolate, coffee and orange), and it proved so popular that it’s being brought back for 2017.

The tasting notes are officially described as “sweet cinnamon and baking spices, buttery, maple, brown sugar, baked pie crust with additional hints of the sweet brown nuances of vanilla and coffee”. Yes, all of that, please and thank you.

We’d like this by the glass, in all our hot drinks and incorporated into baked goods immediately.

Though clearly a nod to the American tradition of Thanksgiving, we prefer to think of it a luxurious way to do Halloween cocktails.

Brand manager Clare Patterson said there was “phenomenal demand” last time round: “We’re hugely excited to be bringing Baileys Pumpkin Spice back for a second year.

“It’s the perfect treat when you fancy something that’s in keeping with the season but also truly indulgent – ideal served over ice or as a decadent extra ingredient to a warming Pumpkin Spice latte.”

It’s available in supermarkets now, RRP £14.99, but won’t be around for long. We’ll pick one up when we nip out for our £22 Maleficent costume (yep, come 31 October, we’ll be the ones sipping our Baileys on the sofa, feet up, in full Disney villain regalia).
