Cadbury responds to Brexit chocolate rumours

Hot on the heels of Toblerone-gate, another devastating rumour was circulating about the future of Cadbury’s Dairy Milk chocolate bars.

There was speculation that our beloved Cadbury’s Dairy Milk bars might change once Brexit comes into force, as former Deputy PM Nick Clegg suggested the ruling that allows the company to sell its chocolate in Europe could potentially change once we leave the EU.

This is because Cadbury adds vegetable fat to its chocolate, which has historically gone against the purer chocolate ideals of our European counterparts. They feel so strongly about it that it took Britain 30 years to be allowed to sell its chocolate there.

Thankfully, the company has released a statement to reassure us that this is not the case, and the future of Dairy Milk bars is safe.

"We do not speculate on EU rule changes and have no current or future plans to change the recipe of our famous Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate,” the company stated.

"We are also always innovating our product ranges and there is lots of exciting things to come from the Cadbury brand this year and beyond… We also register many names, such as Cadbury Dark Milk, but again it does not necessarily mean they will come to market. If we create any such product under this name, we will announce details closer to the time of launch."

All together now: phew.
