Burger King unveils black-coloured burger in Japan

Burger King Japan has introduced an ominous new creation to its menu: a burger made entirely of black ingredients, bar the salad.

The burger includes cheese made from bamboo charcoal, beef burgers made with black pepper and an onion and garlic sauce made from squid ink.

There are two types of black burgers, the 'Kuro Pearl' (kuro means “black”) is a simplified version with just a beef patty and sauce, priced at 480 Japanese yen (£2.80), while the 'Kuro Diamond' includes your standard salad trimmings for 690 yen (£4)

Both burgers will be available for a limited time from 19 September this year.

Burger King Japan started the Premium Kuro Burger (kuro means “black”) for a limited time in 2012 and it became an instant hit, outselling all other new products the chain offered that year. It made a comeback in 2013 and now returns to the 2014 menu by popular demand.
