Chocolate fried chicken: the latest food fad to hit LA

Chocolate fried chicken has landed and we guess, all things considered, it was really only a matter of time before America unleashed this on the world.

ChocoChicken opened its doors in Los Angeles last week and we are amazed by their approach, frankly.

They fry chicken in chocolate oil before slathering it in cooking chocolate made from bittersweet cocoa and then fry it again until it’s a deep brown.

And as if that wasn't enough to make your arteries quake in fear, they also serve their chicken with chocolate ketchup and have sides of white chocolate mashed potato and duck fat fries with chocolate seasoning.

Oh, and chocolate-covered chicken meatballs too.

Surprisingly the Molten Meatballs actually look a bit better than they sound. These are chicken meatballs filled with gooey chocolate and against our better judgement, we'd be up for giving them a try:

Scottish deep-fried Mars bars really have nothing on these guys.

Although the Chocolate Eclair Hotdog - a sweet meaty treat Canada came up with - may give them a run for their money.

We're still very undecided on this new concept. It's either going to massively take off or be a flash in the pan. The restaurant's co-founder Adam Fleischman insists it tastes good.

"Sure, it sounds super goofy," he said. "But it doesn't taste goofy. It tastes amazing."
