Prosecco mince pies exist – and 2016 suddenly doesn’t seem so bad after all

As of today, there’s just four weeks left until Christmas – and, as such, we’re throwing ourselves into the festivities with gusto. Which means that, yes, we’re treating ourselves to all things boozy and delicious.

From gin-filled baubles, to boozy wine advent calendars, to alcoholic jam, there’s plenty on the market to tickle our tastebuds. But our excitement levels reached fever pitch when we learned that you can now get mince pies filled with Prosecco, too.

Oast to Host, who came up with this sparkler of an idea, get the delicious flavour by soaking dried fruit in Prosecco.

They then team the mixture with fresh oranges, lemons, limes, chopped almonds, spices, fresh fruit juices, apples, a dash of brandy, and a slug of sherry, in a bid to create the most moreish mincemeat on the market.

Better still, the delicious Prosecco mince pies are made from gluten and wheat-free shortcrust pastry, meaning that everyone – gluten intolerance or nay - can tuck into them and one (or five) with their evening cuppa.

If you’re planning on giving them away as a gift (madness, we say), then the bakers are more than happy to personalise your mince pies for you; fancy spelling out a handwritten message in pastry for one of your most beloved pals?

We ourselves are planning on writing ‘hands off’ all over ours; these are just too good to share.
