From a Harvey Wallbanger to a Lemon Drop Martini, 78 cocktails every self-respecting party animal should know

HA9572-001.jpg

How well do you really know your cocktails, on a scale of Carrie Bradshaw to Mary Poppins?

A new infographic promises to separate bona fide cocktail connoisseurs and party animals from the more straight-laced among us, with its encyclopedic knowledge of go-to drinks.

From Pisco Sour to Black Russian, it lists the 78 (yes, that many) cocktails "every bar person and party monster should know".

Carrie Bradshaw

Carrie Bradshaw would undoubtedly know all 78 cocktails...

The concoctions are helpfully divided into subsections of all-day cocktails, before-dinner cocktails, after-dinner cocktails, long drinks and sparkling cocktails. Which only goes to show how many cocktails you can actually drink, and at any time of day, if you really put your mind to it.

Some of the drinks seem familiar (a Negroni or an Old Fashioned), but some are completely alien-sounding (Monkey Gland, anyone?)

Which probably tells us we're not quite the party animals we'd want to be - we blame too much time in bed...

Tom Cruise

... as would Cocktail's Brian Flanagan (Tom Cruise)

And yes it may be in the midst of dry January for some, but there's still no time like the present to put your drinking credentials to the test.

See which drinks you recognise, and which you don't, in this inspired infographic from London-based designers David McCandless and Tatjana Dubovina of informationisbeautiful.net
