Crisp lovers rejoice: London is getting its own crisps and dips cafe

Cereal cafe, grilled cheese cafe, all-avocado cafe, Creme Egg cafe, porridge cafe; you could be forgiven for thinking that the niche eatery had reached its peak in London.

But no—and if you’re a crisp lover, the newest addition to the cult cafe scene will be especially tempting.

Hipchips may not have an official opening date as yet, but it's sure set to revolutionise the way we feast on classic comfort food combo crisps and dips.

Crisps

Setting up in Soho on Old Compton Street later this month, the cafe will serve five different types of crisps (it’ll be a colourful affair), cut from heritage potatoes including Highland Burgundy, Salad Blue, Pink Fir Apple, Shetland Black and Red Duke of York.

But in a stroke of utter genius, the crisps won’t just be waiting patiently on your table to be munched and crunched on. Instead they’ll be circulating the cafe via a crisp conveyor belt, much in the style of Yo! Sushi.

As for dips, there’s much to tickle the tastebuds, with plunge pots set to include baba ghanoush, katsu curry, Moroccan yoghurt and pickled onion fondue.

Crisps

More of a sweet tooth? There’s plenty for you to enjoy too, if savoury crisps aren’t hitting the spot. According to reports, Hipchips will offer dessert in the form of sweet crisps coated in sugar and cinnamon rather than traditional salt.

For dunking, there’ll be gooey salted caramel (just take us there now) or rhubarb and custard, with craft beers and wine to wash it all down.

Prices will start from £4.50 for a small box of crisps with two dips, £6.75 for a medium box with three dips, climbing to £11.50 for a large box with six dips.

See hipchips.com for more information.
