London’s ‘Restaurant Story’ named best restaurant in list of UK's top 10 eateries

The UK's largest online restaurant booking service has named the 10 best restaurants in the country, according to thousands of reviews from diners.

OpenTable compiled the list by analysing more than 340,000 reviews for approximately 4,200 restaurants across the UK.

So which dining spot was crowned the very best?

Restaurant Story in London was named the best restaurant out of thousands, for offering “an extraordinary dining experience: Not knowing what to expect of a tasting menu that included items such as ash and coal.”

The eatery located off Tower Bridge on Tooley Street serves a six course menu for £65, an eight course menu for £85 and a three course set lunch menu for £35.

While the restaurant's interior doesn't look much different from many eateries in London - with wooden furnishings, an exposed brick wall and leather seats - chef Tom Sellers has been praised for serving ambitious British cooking that tells an 'edible story' through presentation, flavour and scent.

It has been wowing diners and critics alike and earned its first Michelin stars withing five months of opening in April 2013.

Gordon Ramsay's eponymous contemporary French restaurant in Chelsea came second on the list, with one reviewer writing: “Superb: Everything was top notch from the service to the food, had the tasting menu stand out dishes were..” 

Celebrity chef  Heston Blumenthal claimed two of the top ten spots with The Fat Duck in Berkshire and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London.

London continues to be leading destination in the UK's culinary scene with eight of top 10 restaurants located in the capital.
