This summer's hottest new dessert: the Ice Cream Churro

Last summer we had the Cronut (creamy croissant/donut combo) now there’s a new trendy dessert hybrid on the menu: the churro ice cream sandwich.

Feast your eyes on these beauties..

While the Cronut was the product of the US east coast, the churro ice cream sandwich hails from the west side and is the brainchild of Sylvia Yoo’s pop-up restaurant Churro Borough in Los Angeles.

Although Sylvie’s actually been doing this since 2011, this super desert is only recently getting the attention it so clearly deserves.

Sylvie makes all parts of each sandwich herself, and offers standard flavours - vanilla and Mexican hot chocolate - as well as several seasonal specialties such as orange creamsicle and panna cotta.

Get us to LA. Now please.

The only puzzling thing about the churro ice cream sandwich is why it has taken so long to become a thing, especially since this marvellous baker’s been baking them since 2011.

Really, though, we’re just glad it has finally become big in the foodie world. Here's to hoping we see ice cream churro in lots of places other than LA — like, say, everywhere in London, pronto.
