Vegans are like a “sect” and should “all be killed,” says top TV chef

For some reason, people deciding to shun all animal products and opt for a plant-based diet that is both ethically and environmentally more sound, ignites rage in many - despite the fact scientists have said it could save our planet - and millions of human lives

The latest tirade against vegans comes from a top Italian chef – who seems to be deeply offended by other people’s choice of diet.

Popular TV chef, Gianfranco Vissani, made the comments on Italian On Air chat show, saying:

“Vegans are like members of a sect, they’re like Jehovah’s Witnesses.”

The chef went on to clarify that he takes no umbrage with vegetarians, saying:

“It’s true, and I mean vegans, not vegetarians. What would I do with the vegans? I would kill them all.”

Vissani’s comments have, of course, upset a lot of viewers who have tweeted their upset.

Some even claimed that Vissani is “living proof that eating meat is bad for you,” reports The Metro.

Vissani’s comments comes just weeks after the Italian Parliament drafted a bill questioning the safety of raising children on vegan diets, and proposing jail sentences for parents bringing their children up as vegan.

According to Italian publication The Journal, the bill was drafted as a result of several vegan children being admitted to hospital with malnutrition.

Not everyone’s quite so angry about veganism, though, with Morissey making headlines this weekend for refusing to serve meat at his Manchester gig, promoting the animal-friendly diet.
