This viral Reebok tweet expertly schools Trump on his misogyny

It seems we can barely go a full 24 hours without President Trump making some kind of ill-informed sexist comment, and his state visit to France last week provided ample opportunities for the seasoned misogynist to work his particularly toe-curling brand of magic.

Upon meeting the country’s first lady, Brigitte Macron, the 71-year-old felt it necessary to tell her that she was “in such good shape…. beautiful”, before swivelling around to reiterate the opinion to her husband, President Macron, by adding “she’s in such good physical shape”.

While the internet predictably went into meltdown following the sexist exchange, there was one particular brand that decided to school Trump on his sexism, all via the medium of Twitter.

So hats off to Reebok, whose brilliant flow chart (below) well and truly educates us all on when it’s appropriate to say “you’re in such good shape… beautiful” (read: never).

With arrows leading out from the statement “when is it appropriate to say, "You're in such good shape...beautiful”, the brand helpfully adds some instances where such a comment is unnecessary.

These include, “are you a world leader greeting the spouse of a head of state?”, “are you at the gym working out next to a woman?” and “are you in line next to a woman ordering your morning coffee?” – all of which lead on to the word “no”.

In fact, the only time it is deemed necessary to make such a statement is when you answer yes to the following question: “did you just find a forgotten action figure from your youth, unscathed after decades, in your parents’ basement?”

Unsurprisingly, the tweet quickly went viral, amassing some 45,000 retweets and 77,000 favourites (at the time of writing).

And personally, we feel it’s real power is in not mentioning Trump personally by name.

Bravo, Reebok. Bravo.
