Serena Williams had the best response for reporter who criticised her performance

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and Serena Williams is no exception.

The athlete, who has been ranked world number one by the Women’s Tennis Association no fewer than six times, smashed her way to yet another victory when she beat Lucie Safarova in the second round of the Australian Open yesterday.

But unfortunately that wasn’t enough of an achievement for a male reporter at the match, who questioned the 35-year-old on her “scrappy performance”.

Thankfully, Williams was ready with a scathing response.

“I think that’s a very negative thing to say. Are you serious?” she asked the reporter.

“You should have been out there. That wasn’t very kind. You should apologise. Do you want to apologise?”

Brilliantly, the reporter then apologised to Williams, who went on to defend her game against Safarova.

“That was a great performance. I played well.”

All hail Serena Williams.
