Small Is Beautiful

swiss hero.jpg

Sometimes you need a holiday from holidays – a break from the norm.

Switzerland is small in size but big in heart. It has a laid-back feel ideal for a relaxing holiday, but can also offer cultural stimulation to rival anywhere. And the pure, rarefied air lets you feel like you’re getting away from it all.

Why not consider Zurich, Lausanne or Lugano for a break? Each offers something different – Zurich has some of the world’s best culture, Lausanne is a beautiful place to shop, and Lugano is ideal for picturesque excursions.

ZURICH - FOR CULTURE

Switzerland’s largest city is home to more than 50 museums (including the Swiss National Museum). The fashionable Zurich-West and Aussersihl are must-visit areas, offering a winning combination of art, architecture and culture. Visit the Schiffbau Theater, the Moods jazz club, the Nietturm Bar and the Restaurant LaSalle – formerly a shipbuilding hall.

LAUSANNE - FOR SHOPPING

The home of the Olympic movement has everything you need for a great shopping experience: big department stores, trade fairs and picturesque markets, such as the Place Chauderon flea market, the Place de la Palud’s craft market and the Christmas market at Place de la Riponne. Lausanne is also home to luxurious spas such as Spa Cinq Mondes at Beau-Rivage Palace.

LUGANO - FOR EXCURSIONS

The Italian influence is striking; it is at times possible to think you’re not even in Switzerland. Lugano is also famous for outdoor pursuits and stunning scenery.

There are more than 300km of marked mountain bike tracks in the region. The themed trekking trails are more sedate, and take in some astonishing scenery, including glorious hills, dazzling azure skies and crystal-clear lakes.
