Watch the cryptic Stranger Things season 2 trailer

Since Stranger Things first appeared on Netflix in July this year, it’s all that anyone has been able to talk about.

Fans immediately took to social media to ask whether there was going to be another season and when this would be (presumably so they could block out the date in their diary).

And finally, it has been confirmed that Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder and Noah Schnapp will return for season 2 in 2017.

The first season of the Netflix original – which had fans enthralled by its 80’s genre film homages - charts the chilling disappearance of Will, played by Schnapp, over 8 episodes.

Just as the young boy disappears a young, shaven-headed, girl appears. Eleven, played by rising-star Brown, has escaped from a government laboratory and uses her powers of telekensis to help Will's friends uncover the details of his departure. Along the way they also discover a federal conspiracy and supernatural forces are working against them. 

Eventually though, the youngsters manage to deliver Will back to his mother and here is where the season ends.

But the story is far from over as now Netflix have released a trailer for the much-awaited second series of the sci-fi horror, and revealed a few extra clues about what fans can expect.

As well as confirming that the action will take place during the autumn of 1984, they have also revealed that the story "will continue" - suggesting the action will take place in the same sleepy town, with the same characters we've come to know and love.

Episode names will include: MadMax, The Boy Who Came Back To Life and The Lost Brother.
