Stylist visits Camp Bestival

The festival is now into its seventh year and is an entertaining cross between an adult music festival and a summer camp for pre-teens. Anyone wandering by the main stage is likely to come across a huge diversity of acts ranging from old rock legends to children’s television presenters, and maybe even a hip-hop trio thrown into the mix.

We decided to make things easy this year and opted for the delights of boutique camping, and the lovely people at Lotus bell ensured we wanted for nothing. We were gifted with such luxuries as mattress toppers, shag pile rugs, ear plugs and wicker baskets for muddy boots (luckily we didn’t need them).

There’s plenty to keep the younger folk occupied. The children’s garden was a wonderland of care-free pleasures including hundreds of free things for kids to do. Soft play areas, kid’s catwalks, face painting and bouncy castles to name but a few. Not to mention the parade on Saturday, which this year was circus themed giving everyone the excuse to dress up!

With the younger festival goers taken care of, the big kids can indulge in a weekend of art, comedy and cocktails at the Bollywood bar and gourmet food from some of the most talented chefs around. Later, we enjoyed some big music acts which included De la Soul who got the crowd going with smooth tunes like ‘The Magic Number’ and ‘Feel Good Inc.’- it was over all too quickly!

Basement Jaxx produced a colourful performance on Sunday night to finish off a fantastic weekend. As the sun set, they graced the crowd with hits such as ‘Where’s Your Head’ and ‘Romeo’. A truly magnificent firework display topped the weekend off! This is the most unique holiday camp you will ever experience where they really have thought of everything.
