The best cookbooks of all time

A library of brilliant recipe books is an essential part of every foodie’s armoury. On the search for the ultimate foodie bible, Stylist quizzed our favourite chefs and tested hundreds of recipes to find the top ten books for cooks (see them all by clicking on an image in the gallery below).

Now we're calling on all budding chefs to share their signature dish - the one you turn to time and time again - to be in with a chance of winning all ten recipe books. To enter, simply share your favourite dish to cook in the comments section, along with a short line or two on why you love it. We're looking for your fail-safe dish that's always a crowd-pleaser at mealtimes or guaranteed to wow at dinner parties. It can be anything from a simple salad to a complex soufflé - it just needs to get your taste-buds tingling.

The competition has now closed, but please do still share your all-time favourite recipes in the comments section at the bottom of this page - and discover our top ten cookbooks by clicking an image below.
