The edible white chocolate popcorn bowl has arrived

Every once in a while a culinary invention comes along that's so genius, all we can do is sit back and say "Yes!" and "How come this didn't happen before?"

So is the case for this 100 percent edible white chocolate popcorn bowl invented by US-based food blogger Beth at Hungry Happenings.

She decided to combine our two favourite film-watching staples while eliminating the need for a bowl at the same time.

Her innovative approach uses an actual bowl as a mould and 40 ounces of melted white chocolate as the glue which seals the structure together.

She then plumped for the most decadent of popcorn flavours - Peanut Butter Popcorn Speckled with Twix Bites - to finish the whole thing off in style.

The edible popcorn bowl in progress

As Beth explains, "The idea to create a bowl made out of popcorn has been swirling around my brain for a while so when I finally attempted to make one, I was so happy it not only worked, but was easy.

"My friends raved about it, and were all so amazed by the popcorn bowl. It was fun to see chunks broken off and eaten."

The finished product: we want

The recipe she's come up with really does seem to be quite simple - all you need is microwave popcorn, white chocolate, a plastic bowl, tin foil and plastic gloves.

And as far as brainwave foodie mash-ups go, it's right up there with the chocolate chip cookie shot glasses unveiled by New York-based pasty chef extraordinaire Dominique Ansel earlier this year.

Let the good times roll.
