Are you too busy tweeting, texting and updating to actually enjoy life? Stylist.co.uk wants to hear your views

In this week’s magazine we revealed that the vast majority of us are so immersed in tweets, texts and apps that we’ve forgotten how to live in the now. We go on holiday to ‘get away from it all’ but it’s barely hours before we’re posting smug status updates on Facebook and slyly checking work emails on our iPhones.

According to our research, the average multi-tasking Briton manages to cram a whopping eight hours and 48 minutes of media (from Twittering while internet shopping to Facebooking while downloading) into their average day.

However, it seems the tide is turning and we are realising the advantages of switching off and living in the moment. As our feature revealed, those who step away from the gadgets show an increased blood flow to the frontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for memory, problem solving, decision making and planning. Switching off allows us to hear our own thoughts and improve our relationships as a result.

Furthermore, trend experts are predicting a future of ‘de-teching’, something which we’re already seeing thanks to the growing popularity of electronic ‘attention managers’ – internet blockers which shut down your web access at set points throughout the day in order to make users take a screen break.

We want to hear your thoughts on this topic; has tweeting taken over your life? Have you tried any of the attention managers mentioned above to cure an internet addiction? Have your say by leaving a comment below.
