The most watched YouTube videos of 2014, from the giant spider dog to catcalling in New York

YouTube has revealed the top trending videos of 2014 including the most watched video of the year - the mutant giant spider dog.

The clip of a dog dressed as a spider to scare unsuspecting members of the public has been watched over 114 million times.

Unsurprisingly, Nike's World Cup advert featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Wayne Rooney and other top players came in at second place and the singing nun on Italy's version of singing talent contest The Voice was the fourth most watched video of this year.

Two unlikely and unexpected entries came in the form of strangers kissing for the first time (third place) and the woman being catcalled 100 times in 10 hours while walking through New York City (tenth place).

The top 10 was compiled by YouTube using the number of views, shares, comments and likes of a video.

The videos have proved to be some of the biggest news stories of the year. Take a trip down memory lane and watch the biggest YouTube hits of 2014 below.
