Is this the most innovative wedding proposal ever?

If someone asks to spend the rest of their lives with you, to have babies and grow old with you, it's pretty much the most romantic thing that can ever happen.

You can't go too wrong with a proposal.

Even having a tin ring handed over to you on the number 68 bus would be pretty adorable and warrant at least a "maybe." Minimum effort can still go a long way when you're asking someone to spend their lives with you, because it's the question itself that holds all the romance.

But one man just blew all other folk out the water with the most well-thought-out and adorable proposal of all time.

When Justin Lebon was ready to propose to his girlfriend, Michal Ott, he wanted to do something she’d never forget.

Lebon and Ott regularly enjoyed playing Monopoly together, so for this special moment, Lebon recruited his talented wood-worker friend, Mark Becker, to create a personalised board.

Becker’s game was filled with landmark locations from the couple’s lives and moments in their relationship.

Stops included the Californian street where the couple grew up, Match.com, where they finally met, First Street Ale House, where they enjoyed their first date, and Apartment 196, where they first lived together.

Lebon and Becker made their own Community and Chance cards, carved designs into the board and even created the little houses for the game. Lebon then wrapped the board and gave it to his partner on Christmas day.

To play the game, Lebom provided a tampered-with die, which would ensure Ott landed on Chance. He has designed his own chance card that read: "Will you Marry me?" On the back it sais "if yes, advance to Luxury Tax."

Underneath the Luxury Tax place was a secret compartment, inside of which Lebon had hidden a fabulous engagement ring.

The board in all its glory

In a blog post, Lebon explained his proposal, saying:

"I knew years ago that Michal was the one. But it was a few months ago I decided I was going to ask Michal to marry me on Christmas morning."

Ott was overwhelmed with the proposal and, of course, said yes.

"She loved every second of the proposal, and I'm glad she did,” says Lebon. “It took a lot of planning, but I enjoyed every second of it. I'll never forget that day."

The proposal took place last Christmas, but after Lebon posted it on Reddit recently, the internet fell in love with him.

"I just wanted to share how well it turned out. After lots of planning and plotting with my good friend Mark Becker, we were able to create a beautiful piece of art that we are not only able to play, but to hopefully keep forever," Lebon says.

The couple are planning their wedding for 2017.

Who knew romance could be found in the sentence "go back to the Old Kent Road"?
