“I cried over a sea otter” The strange and surprising things that move people to tears

A comedian's list of the surprising triggers that make his wife cry has gone viral and has encouraged strangers to share the entirely unexpected things that make them blubber.

Topping Aaron Gillies' nine-point list, which was shared with his wife Lex's blessing, is: “She found out swans can be gay and thought it was really nice.”

Another one reads: “She was hungover and saw a picture of a piglet.”

Aaron, aka @TechnicallyRon, wrote: “My wife cries at absolutely anything. I mean, ANYTHING. So i started writing the reasons down because reasons.”

The 28-year-old's post has been retweeted more than 31,000 times and has encouraged people to open up about the uncommon causes for their own emotional outbursts:
