The Universe is on Twitter

And it's a bit of a b**ch

Now you don’t have to shake your fist blindly at the sky when you feel The Universe is against you – you can Tweet at it.

Yes, it’s true The Universe now has its own Twitter account registered @THEUNlVERSE (spelled using a lower case ‘L’ instead of a capital ‘I’).

Already racking up 13,564 followers and counting, @THEUNlVERSE started Tweeting in April, but rather than maintaining a dignified aura as one might imagine, The Universe Tweets all in caps, is a bit of an egomaniac and can actually be rather bitchy. Fist-shakers particularly feel its wrath with Tweets like this:

@paranoidlops NO NOT THIS WEEK. I'M ALWAYS AGAINST YOU.

@nancy_clue @likeadeuce I'LL IMPLODE BEFORE I INTENTIONALLY PLEASE A SINGLE PERSON

@TheLadies_Lady F**K NO! YOU'RE GONNA BE UNHAPPY FOR A WHILE LONGER!

However, its not always mean - The Universe can get philosophical from time to time:

So who is behind this equally malevolent and benevolent presence? The clue is in the one person @THEUNlVERSE follows.

Started by Swedish-born Twitterer @Amathev, he began the @THEUNlVERSE account as a joke when a friend of his addressed the Universe in a Tweet: “While waiting on her response I decided to search for ‘universe’ on the Twitter feed and Tweet to others,” Amathev told dailydot.com.

While the account is mostly fun, there have been some awkward moments, particularly when one user addressed the universe after a loved one had died. After debating whether to respond, Amathev decided to get in touch. "It felt more like I was trying to bring comedy into a sad situation,” he explained. “I’d probably say that I’ve learnt my lesson and won’t be responding to many sad tweets in the future."
