We love chocolate. We love beer. So what’s not to love about chocolate beer?

An interesting twist on the traditional ways of consuming chocolate this Easter, it’s best to think of chocolate beer as less of a dessert or after-meal tipple and more of a sweet and fragrant accompaniment to mains like red meat or cheese.

Sweet-savoury combos are nothing new (think duck a l’orange, pork and apple, or even salted caramel), but if you’re still feeling sceptical, here are some recommended chocolate beer and food pairings…

ABOVE: Meantime Chocolate Porter

Great with a chèvre goats cheese salad. Sounds weird, but tastes terrific.

ABOVE: Youngs Double Chocolate Stout

This one is actually great for dessert time. Try with a full-on vanilla creme brûlée.

ABOVE: Dark Star Milk Chocolate Stout

Sadly only available seasonally, but when in season try the chilli-chocolate thing - pair Chocolate Stout with chilli con carne.

ABOVE: Chocolate Tom from Robinsons of Manchester

Great with a hearty salt beef sandwich.

ABOVE: Chocolate Marble from Marble brewery, Manchester

Count yourself blessed if you are in a pub that sells both Chocolate Marble and a tasty venison burger.

What do you think? Will you be trying chocolate beer this Easter? Tell us your thoughts on Twitter or in the comments box below...
