For some men, asking their girlfriends to marry them is a very scary proposition. While some decide to keep things simple, popping the question over a romantic dinner for example, others choose to hide their fears in an all-out declaration of their love, asking for their lady’s hand with an elaborate production. From an all-singing all-dancing flash mob to fairytale theatrics at Disneyland, here are our top 5 wedding proposal videos, hankies at the ready…

Bruno Mars proposal

Sat in the back of an open station wagon, Amy is given headphones and told by her boyfriend’s brother that he wants to play her a song. The song is Bruno Mars’ romantic ditty Marry You, and before she knows it, she’s being driven down the street starring in her own personal music video alongside her friends and family. Surely one of the most elaborate proposals ever – and we LOVE it.

Disneyland proposal

Imagine being proposed to in the middle of the street. Now imagine being proposed to in the middle of Main Street in Disneyland on a busy summer's day. Now imagine being proposed to in the middle of Main Street in Disneyland on a busy summer's day with your boyfriend using a loud-hailer and theatrical Disney employees singing and dancing you into a marriage proposal. Yeah, she didn’t know what to do either.

We always knew proposal

This couple always knew they’d end up together, so much so that after dating for a year, they decided to travel the world, getting pictures taken while holding a letter, with each letter spelling out the line “we always knew”. What the she didn’t know however, was that her boyfriend had a very special phrase to spell out on their last trip using the final letter, ‘w’. Trust us, the final reveal is pretty darn cool indeed.

Shake It proposal

Taking inspiration from Metro Station’s hit song Shake It, this filmographer sets up an intricate ploy to propose to his girlfriend, involving a fake documentary, numerous costume changes and – a unicycle. Oscar-worthy performances aplenty.

Weather forecaster proposal

Working over Christmas, this weather forecaster is happy to have her boyfriend drop by the studio. While she’s spot on about the rain, there is one thing she couldn’t have predicted. This sweet clip is an oldie but a goodie.
