Watch: If real life was like Tinder

Chances are you, or someone you know, is on 'hook-up' dating app Tinder - even if it's just to titter at the mirror selfies. Even Lily Allen has revealed she is obsessed with it. Now a video imagines 'Real Life Tinder,' where a simple swipe can knock people out of their sight based on appearances.

The app itself lets people search for potential dates based on their location, images and a brief bio. But in Danish filmmaker Rolf Glumsoe Nielson's real-life imagining, a woman strolls through a building swiping away people around her with a big red "nope" as Beyoncé's "to the left, to the left" lyrics from Irreplaceable play in the background.

It's both amusing and slightly creepy. There's a hint of violence when people are mercilessly cast aside, and there is no fairytale happy ending:

She's married, but Lily Allen can't resist the lure of Tinder, above

Tinder's popularity has skyrocketed over the past few years and its massive global base of users includes celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan. However, despite its positioning as a tool for dating, it has gained a reputation as a casual sex app.

The company recently made the surprising move of teaming up with human rights organisation Amnesty International in a campaign to promote gender equality. It carried slogans including “Not all women have the choices you do,” with an invitation to users to use one of the messages as their profile photo.

“Empowering women is a vital part of Tinder’s overall mission,” the company said.
